We sat down at our low wooden table and studied the
menu with great enthusiasm. Ryoshi has some of the best
sushi in Bali, so making a choice was no easy task.
My friend and I settled on the Kelapa, which
consists of a wide variety of fresh sushi. Our platter
had generous portions of shrimp sushi, tuna roll, butterfish
sushi, fish eggs and more. This is the largest sushi
platter on the menu and definitely good value, as it
will easily satisfy three or four people. We also selected
some delectable tempura, which was a combination of
fresh shrimp, squid, fish and an assortment of veggies
deep fried in a very light scrumptious batter. I was
in heaven!
Sagon, the owner of Ryoshis Restaurant sat with
us and chatted while we ate our lunch. He told us that
Ryoshi originally opened in 1994, and now there are
a total of six Ryoshi Restaurants which are located
in Seminyak, Legian, Kuta, Sanur, and Ubud & Gili
Trawangan. Whats the secret of his success? Everything
is fresh. Even the soy products are homemade. I tried
the soy milk, which was a creamy delight with no bitter
aftertaste like one gets with store bought soy milk.
We also tried their homemade Agedashi tofu, which is
deep fried with tapioca flour & cold silk tofu with
bonito (fish) flakes. I have never been a tofu lover,
but this tofu was amazing! The silk tofu was so creamy,
that it was like custard. Ryoshi uses only non-genetically
modified soybeans with no preservatives. My taste buds
were tricked into thinking I was eating dessert. We
finished our fabulous lunch and listened to nice chill-out
music. It was time to go back to work, but I promised
myself that Id have lunch again here soon
